Infighting and reciprocal threats escalate in Iran’s sham election

• Ali Khamenei’s faction threatens Mohamoud Ahmadinejad by accusing him of being politically incompetent, while Esfandiar Rahim-Mashaei threatens to reveal “behind the scenes” truths

• Ahmadinejad’s Deputy: By blocking Ahmadinejad’s path, Khamenei’s faction will start wishing they would die a thousand times a day

•”Rafsanjani will return country to its state prior to 2005″

NCRI- The power struggle within the Iranian regime has reached unprecedented dimensions. The regime’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, is in a fragile situation and drawing on all his resources to confront the two factions of Ali Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Consequently, elements of Khamenei’s faction in the Iranian regime parliament have threatened Ahmadinejad with being a political incompetent. Avaz Haidarpour, a member of the parliament’s National Security Commission, noting Ahmadinejad’s support for Mashaei, said: “Although Ahmadinejad’s political incompetence is indisputable, we shall continue to wait until the election to ensure it is glorious, peaceful and tension-free. If such things occur in the future, parliament will resort to substantial, serious and legal action,” he added.

Haidarpour said: “The person who is in the position of president easily tramples on the laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran and ignores the leader’s orders on obeying the law.”

Speaking on the possible reaction by Ahmadinejad to the disapproval of his favorite candidates, that could lead to resigning or cancellation the election, Haidarpour noted: “Parliament would substantially, seriously and legally confront any measures that would plunge the country into crisis, the state-run Mehr news agency reported on May 14

Reciprocally, on May 15, Ahmadinejad’s political deputy Mohammad Jafar Behdad, referring to Khamenei’s faction, wrote: “Since they considered their only obstacle to be a phenomenon called ‘Ahmadinejad’s continuance’, with all their capacity and impetus, they attempted to destroy him and to prove his deviation from religious and revolutionary ideals.”
Referring to Rafsanjani’s candidacy, he added: Khamenei’s faction were ignorant of the fact that “by blocking the route for ‘Ahmadinejad’s continuance’ they not only fail to gain anything substantial, but will get to a point where they would wish to die a thousand times a day”.

Quoting Ahmadinejad, he stated: “These wretched people fail to see what fate the country has in store… those of us who are charged with opposing the leader will end up defending the Rule of the Jurist and the leader.”

In a blatant threat, Ahmadinejad’s political deputy wrote: “Hashemi Rafsanjani will return the country to the condition it was in 2005… fundamentalists ought to show zeal and tact and in the short time remaining, make up for their four years of errors (in confronting Ahmadinejad). Otherwise, all eyes will be on the sacrificing force of the Islamic Revolution, i.e. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to play an eternal role in this historic turn of events…”

The state-run ILNA news agency reported on May 15 that Mashaei, the favored candidate of Ahmadinejad’s faction, went on to threaten Khamenei’s faction, saying: “For two years now we have had remained profoundly silent… in future we shall talk about a number of things that are going on behind the scenes.”
