• Trump Says Iranian Regime May Collapse Because of His Policies

President Donald Trump said the Iranian regime may collapse because of his administration’s policies, including leaving the international nuclear agreement with Tehran negotiated by his predecessor.

“When I came into here, it was a question of when would they take over the Middle East,” Trump said Thursday in an Oval Office interview with Bloomberg News. “Now it’s a question of will they survive. It’s a big difference in one and a half years.”

• Prison authorities attacking Dervish community inmates

Reports indicate inmates of Iran’s Sufi (Dervish Gonabadi) community have been protesting in ward 8 of Tehran’s Penitentiary Complex for three months now. These inmates have been protesting the use of torture and inhumane measures against Sufi women.

In the first hours of Wednesday morning members of the Tehran Penitentiary Complex security units were reported to have attacked the Dervish inmates. Sources say authorities even welded a door leading to the guard officers’ area in order to pressure the inmates into ending their protest.

• Iran official calls upset citizen ‘ignorant’ for bringing up economic decline

A video posted by former Iranian MP Hamid Rasaee on Twitter showed a frustrated citizen criticizing Iranian Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ali Motahari who, while visiting Golpayegan County, in the Isfahan Province, delivered religious lectures at a time when the country is witnessing deteriorating living conditions and people are suffering due to high prices and a decline in the economy.

While the citizen explained how people are suffering as a result of the deteriorating economy, saying that the price of the local Pride car has reached 45 million Toman (a superunit of the Iranian rial), Motahari replied: “You are foolish and ignorant. We came here to talk about religion.”

This incident happened as popular protests continue across different areas due to a spike in prices, unemployment and decline of the local currency which has reached 110,000 rial for each US dollar.

• Chamber of commerce warns: We are on the brink of a tsunami of bankruptcies

On August 27, state-run news agency ISNA quoted Mahmoud Eslamian, deputy chief of the Chamber of Commerce in Isfahan saying that due to some unscientific decisions in the field of economy, we will soon witness a tsunami of manufacturing units going bankrupt and the causing unemployment.

The deputy chief of the chamber of commerce in Isfahan continues: “The economic situation in the country is alarming and the private sector needs to take a stand against incorrect and unreasonable decisions more actively than before.”

About the unscientific decisions of the government, Esmalian said: “The dry out of Zahanderud is one of the results of such decisions. Unfortunately, the decision-making process is continuing on this path and soon we will witness a tsunami of manufacturing units going bankrupt and the following unemployment.”
