France urges EU to threaten Iran sanctions over stoning

AFP – France has urged Europe to threaten targeted sanctions against the Iranian regime over the case of a woman sentenced to be stoned to death, Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner's office said Friday.

Kouchner has written to European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton to call for a joint letter from all 27 member states to Tehran, warning against the execution of 43-year-old Sakineh Mohammadi-Ashtiani.
