Collaboration of al-Maliki’s office with Al-Qaida is a big scandal; what’s not revealed yet “an even bigger scandal”

Al-Sharqia TV, May 15 – The spokesman for the Iraqi Parliament’s Human Rights Committee, Heydar Molla, said that: “The Office of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is collaborating with the most dangerous terrorist organization, the al-Qaida, which has been shedding the blood of Iraqis during the past years. What has been revealed about assisting the al-Qaida prisoners to escape by al-Maliki’s office staffers is a big scandal. This is due to financial and bureaucratic corruption, but there is no doubt, what hasn’t been exposed yet is even a bigger scandal. We are concerned that there might be a regional plot and planning behind these connections.”

Heydar Molla called for al-Maliki to be summoned to the Parliament. “The report by the fact finding commission shows that there are thousands of innocent Iraqis in prisons without having committed a crime, and the cause of this is financial and bureaucratic corruption. Therefore, we will continue this investigation and will pressure the government until it answers the human rights cases. We have gotten to a point that Mr. Ad Melkert, Representative of the UN Secretary General, has written to al-Maliki that he must respect human rights; this recommendation is another evidence showing violations of human rights of the Iraqi people.”

Al-Sharqia reported the day before, that at a conference, Ad Melkert, representative of the UN Secretary General, asked the Iraqi government to respect human rights.
