Bahrain steps up protest against Iranian regime interference

(Gulf Daily News) – Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa sent official letters to Arab League Secretary General Dr Nabil El Arabi clarifying to him and the Arab states recent hostile and blatant threats made against the kingdom by Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for African and Arab Affairs Hussain Amir Abdullahyan to Fars news agency last Saturday.

He pointed out that Bahrain considers this a hostile and grave threat, which is unacceptable in relations between independent states.

The Foreign Minister added that such statement represents a flagrant encroachment on the kingdom’s sovereignty and its territorial safety.

It is also a blatant interference in Bahrain’s internal affairs which went beyond the rules of international diplomacy and relations between countries.

Bahrain’s ambassador to Egypt and its permanent representative to the Arab League delivered the letter to the league secretary-general.

The general secretariat of the league separately issued a statement condemning the hostile Iranian statements and repeated provocative actions against Bahrain, branding them as reckless and irresponsible.
