Video: Iran’s state TV reacts hysterically to Maryam Rajavi addressing European parliament conference

The Iranian main state run TV broadcast a report on Iranian opposition leader Maryam Rajavi addressing a conference at the European Parliament on April 9.

The report by the state TV was carried out as part of intensifying campaign to demonize the opposition.

The report was the latest in spate of reports and stories in the state-run media bashing the Iranian opposition, the National Council of Resistance of Iran and its principal organization, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).The new trend displays the international support of the opposition, is a major detour from the Iranian regime’s decades-long policy of avoiding all mention of the activities of opposition and policy of silence vis-a vis the opposition.

The report on Rajavi’s April 9 address showed a large number of MEPs from various political groups including senior members welcoming Maryam Rajavi as she enters the European Parliament headquarters in Brussels.

The broadcast was in the wake of a moderately critical resolution on Iran adopted on April 3 by the European Parliament. The resolution created a disingenuous and hostile reaction from the mullah’s regime at the highest levels.
In her remarks Rajavi, the keynote speaker to the conference on April 9, underscored that “human rights is indeed the Achilles heel of this regime”. ” The chalice of poison o human rights is a hundred times more dangerous for this regime as the nuclear one, ” Rajavi added.

A number of Iranian regime officials, including the so-called ‘moderate’ Foreign Minister, the Speaker of the Majlis (the Iranian Parliament), the chair of the Iranian Parliament’s Security and Intelligence committee, Tehran’s Friday Prayer Leader, numerous members of the Majlis have attacks on the EU unrelentingly since the European Parliament resolution. , They have questioned why the European Parliament dared to include human rights violations and the anti-democratic behavior of the regime of Iran in the on-going nuclear discussions.
