Two political prisoners on hunger strike in Iran

NCRI – Two political prisoners at Karaj’s Gohardasht prison near Tehran are continuing with their hunger strike while being held in solitary confinement in protest to the inhumane treatment of regime agents in prison.

According to the Students Committee in Defense of Political Prisoners, Arjang Davoudi and Afshin Baymani are being held in Ward 1 of Gohardasht prison.

Mr. Davoudi’s physical condition has deteriorated after a number of other hunger strikes and enduring beatings and torture. He has also been deprived of his required medicine in recent days.

With the transfer of political prisoners at Gohardasht prison to a special security ward, restrictions and pressures have dramatically increased on the prisoners.

Another prisoner of conscience, Mohammad Mehdi Zalyeh, has also been returned to the special security ward from solitary confinement.
