Two Iranian political prisoners exiled without reason

Two political prisoners in Iran have been exiled to remote prisons without explanation from regime officials.

Hani Yazarlou was summoned to prosecutor’s office at Evin Prison before his belongings were collected and he was transferred to Vakil Abad Prison in the city of Mashhad.

Dr Yazarlou – a political prisoner in the 70s, 80s and 90s – was then arrested in 2012 for attending the funeral of political prisoners Jaafar Kazemi and Mohammad Haj Aghaii who were executed in prison, and spent 55 days in solitary confinement.

He was later sentenced to one year in prison and 15 years banishment to Iranshahr.

Political prisoner Kasra Nouri, a blogger and defender of Dervishes rights – was serving a two-year sentence in Mashad’s Adel Abad Prison for propaganda against the government and membership of a Dervish group.

He has now been transferred without explanation to a prison in the province of Fars, where he is in a critical physical condition and suffering from severe back pain, but has so fare been denied MRI treatment.

Mr Nouri went on hunger strike for 90 days last year in protest at the treatment of seven jailed Dervish lawyers.
