Abolfazl Abedin has been refusing food for 13 days in protest at being exiled to Ahvaz prison from Evin prison, in punishment for testified in court that he witnessed signs torture on the body of fellow prisoner Sattar Beheshti on the night shortly before he was killed.
Mr Abedin was arrested in 2010 and sentenced to 12 years of prison term on charges of having connections with hostile countries, his human rights activities and spreading anti-regime propaganda to foreign media outlets.
Meanwhile, prisoner Reza Shahabi, a member of board of directors of Tehran Bus Company, is fighting for life in Evin prison after months of torture and forced confessions since his kidnap and arrest by intelligence agents in June 2010.
He now has damage to his cervical cord and injuries to his waist, shoulders and neck and he has staged repeated hunger and medicine strikes in protest at the lack of medical care and abuse by prison guards.
