The NCRI Women’s Committee Strongly Condemns Participation of the Representative of the Mullahs’ Misogynist Regime in the UN CSW68

The NCRI Women’s Committee strongly condemns Ensieh KhazAli’s trip to New York and her participation in the 68th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68).

Ensieh KhazAli heads the directorate for Family and Women’s Affairs at the office of the criminal president of the clerical regime, Ebrahim Raisi, who was involved in the 1988 massacre of political prisoners.

The United Nations’ acceptance of the representative of the mullahs’ misogynistic regime is an affront to all the women of Iran who are most oppressed and discriminated against.

Raisi’s deputy is admitted to the UN at a time when at least 864 individuals were executed in Iran in 2023, including 26 women. In recent months, the Iranian regime has enacted a so-called “Chastity and Hijab” law, further intensifying the suppression of Iranian women across all domains.

In its recent report to the United Nations Human Rights Council, the International Fact-Finding Mission stated, “The violent repression of peaceful protests and pervasive institutional discrimination against women and girls has led to serious human rights violations by the Government of Iran, many amounting to crimes against humanity.” The report recalls that detainees were subjected to “rape and other forms of sexual and gender-based violence, including gang rape,” to extract confessions.
