Lord Dholakia: We should support the Iranian Resistance

NCRI – Lord Dholakia, a Liberal Democrat member of the United Kingdom’s House of Lords, has urged support for the Iranian Resistance’s efforts to establish freedom and democracy in Iran.

“Those films of people being hanged in public from cranes makes you feel how brutal the regime in Iran is,” said Lord Navnit Dholakia, who is Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democratic Party in the House of Lords.

He was speaking at a conference on human rights in Iran at the British Parliament on Monday, October 19.

“I have been saying again and again from day one that we should support the Iranian Resistance movement,” he said.

He added that the international community has “repeatedly turned a blind eye” to the atrocities committed by the Iranian regime’s mercenaries against the thousands of members of the main Iranian opposition group People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, or MEK) first in Camp Ashraf and later in Camp Liberty in Iraq.

Lord Dholakia expressed hope that the people of Iran can eventually achieve democracy, freedom and human rights. “In the end you cannot supress people continuously all the time. Nobody ever gives up hope because we are all born free and that is the freedom we value.”
