Prisoner executed in Iranian city of Sari

A prisoner has been executed in the main prison in the northern Iranian city of Sari, regime officials have announced.

The man known only by his initials D.M. had been sentenced to death for murder, the state-run Fars news agency reported.

The regime’s judiciary in the province also said another prisoner known as M.K. was taken for execution for killing a man during a dispute over water for his farm – but was given a last-ditch reprieve by members of his victim’s family.

More than 400 executions have taken place in Iran since the election of new ‘moderate’ president Hassan Rouhani last June.
