Political prisoners in Evin’s Ward 350 under increasing pressure

NCRI- Political prisoners at Tehran’s notorious Evin prison have been banned from having telephone contacts with their families for the past three weeks, according to obtained reports from inside Iran.

Sedaqat, the prison’s warden, and Mostafa Bozorgnia, the head of Ward 350, where the political prisoners are being held, are tormenting the prisoners under the pretext of breaking fast during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Bozorgnia, who is dubbed the Henchman of Ward 350 for his cruelty, has summoned a number of political prisoners, warning them that they will be transferred to solitary confinement for eating in daylight in the month of Ramadan.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, but most of the political prisoners held in Ward 350 are not able to fast after being subjected to cruel physical torture during their detention. A number of others are unable to fast due to old age.

The Iranian theocracy regularly uses religious pretexts as a means to suppress the general population and political activists.

Bozorgnia has also pressured the prisoners by asking them to sign a pledge that they will not break fast in Ramadan.
