NCRI – Parliamentary Committees of “Friends of Free Iran” in various European countries including Sweden, Romania, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Estonia in separate letters to the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zied Ra’ed Al-Hussein, urged him to take action for the safety of political prisoner, Ali Moezzi, who was kidnapped by Gohardasht prison officials on January 4 and transferred to an unknown location.

In their letters, the Parliamentary Committees emphasized that kidnapping a prisoner form prison is a new form of suppression and barbarism by the mullahs regime ruling Iran and this regime has increased the intensity of repression, arrests and imprisonment of the protestors and discontented people in order to contain the explosive atmosphere of the society and prevent eruption of popular anger against the tyranny, poverty, and corruption.

Copies of the letters were also sent to Mr. António Guterres, the U.N. Secretary General, and Ms. Asma Jahangir, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran, as well as to Amnesty International.

Earlier, Parliamentary Committees in the U.K., Germany, Australia, Canada, and Italy issued various statements and letters demanding safety for the political prisoner Ali Moezzi and clarification about his fate.
