Nine new hangings in Iran

NCRI – Iran has publicly hanged three Afghan men and executed six other men in a Tehran prison, state-run media reported today.

Gholam Hazrat, Shah Mir and Nour Ahmad were hanged on Monday in the town of Rafsanjan, southern Kerman province, a report in Emrouz daily said.

Another Afghan identified only by his first name as Vahid, 22, was hanged in notorious Tehran Evin prison on Wednesday along with five other men, the semi-official Fars news agency said.

The report identified the men only as Hassangholi, Yadollah, Hossein, Mohammad-Hadi and Kheirollah.

The executions are reported as the UN General Assembly adopted a strongly-worded resolution on Tuesday evening condemning gross violations of human rights, in particular the high number of executions, in Iran.
