NCRI – Another Iranian athlete has left Iran and requested refugee status, according to state-run Jahan News on Thursday.
The report said, “Iraj Amirkhani of the judo team in the 81 kilo category, who has a gold medal from the Asian youth championships and is a world youth silver medalist, seeks to immigrate to the US through European countries.”
The news agency referred to a number of other Iranian athletes who have already left the Iranian regime and sought refugee status elsewhere, saying, “Prior to this, Vahid Sarlak Darandeh, a fifth-place medalist in the Dutch world championships and Ehsan Rajabi, the only medalist in the Iranian national team during the past two Asian games, left for Germany and the US, respectively.”
“The Sheikh Hassani brothers, medal holders at the Asian Youth games, have also left for Europe,” it added.
