London Gathering in Solidarity With Families of 1988 Massacre Victims in Iran

NCRI – A street rally was held in London’s Trafelgar Square in solidarity with the families of Iran’s 1988 massacre victims. This gathering included an exhibition of mass graves and images of the martyrs of the 1988 massacre, during which more than 30,000 were sent to the gallows by the Iranian regime.

Representatives of various news media outlets conducted interviews with various members of the massacre victims’ families, Hossein Abedini, representative of the National Council of Resistance of Iran in the United Kingdom, exhibition director Khosrow Shahriari and Gisu Shakeri who played the main role in staging this gathering.

“This is a reminder of the 1988 massacre during which thousands of Iranian opposition members and supporters were executed. Those who perpetrated this act must face justice, including [Iranian President Hassan] Rouhani who was involved,” Abedini said to al-Akhbariya TV.

Al Arabiya TV reported:

“This exhibition reiterates a painful tragedy in Iran’s prisons… This simple exhibition presents the Iranian regime’s medieval and hysteric barbarity to rid itself of those opposing the policies of the velayat-e faqih (absolute rule of the clergy).”

“Mothers are still searching for where their children were buried. This exhibition is a symbol of a mass grave of these prisoners that has been recently found,” Shahriari said to Al Arabiya.

The Khavaran mass grave, located west of Tehran, is where a large number of the executed political prisoners were buried. The Iranian opposition says elements of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei are focusing their efforts to destroy this mass grave, being the most important piece of evidence proving this massacre.

The mullahs’ regime continues to hunt down those who survived this massacre. The survivors and families of the massacre victims who held this street exhibition are demanding the perpetrators of this massacre face justice.
