NCRI – A member of the Iranian regime’s Assembly of Experts said inhumane punishments by the regime, such as amputation, display “compassion” and a “framework for showing kindness” by the clerical regime. He called for more vigilance in implementing such sentences.

Ahmad Khatami, who is a member of the Assembly of Experts presiding board, was quoted by the state-run news agency Mehr on Monday as saying, “The judge must sentence a thief to have his hand cut off.”

Khatami added, “If the most severe punishment were to be imprisonment, this would in fact act as an incentive to commit crimes … So, we must not listen to what the enemy says and must instead implement with resolve Islam’s commandments and laws.”
