Iranian regime extends oppressive measures to control dissent

NCRI – Iranian regime’s officials have announced they intend to extend “The National Security Plan”, which began in April, for a further six month, and build more prisons.

On Monday, Brigadier General Iskandar Momeni, the operational director of the State Security Forces (SSF) said “The National Security Plan has been added to the SSF’s permanent agenda and will continue with decisiveness over the second half of the year."

Ali Akbar Yasaghi, the head of the prisons and torture chambers of the mullah’s regime told state news agency IRNA: "We have started building 41 new prisons and another 34 new plans have been approved."
Yasaghi said: “As a result of the mental and psychological conditions in the prisons, 25% of the prisoners get addicted to drugs.”

Momeni said the SSF were targeting “trouble-makers”, the term Iranian regime often uses to refer to millions of unemployed young men, who are largely beset by frustration and despair.
The SSF is also cracking down harshly on women under the guise of combating “mal-veilers”.
