Iranian regime admits widespread arrest of youth after football victory

NCRI – The Iranian regime’s State Security Forces now admits that on June 18 several youth have been arrested during celebrations to mark Iran’s qualifying for the 2014 World Cup.

Iranian people particularly the youths had turned the football team victory celebrations into anti-regime protest by chanting slogans against the clerical regime.

In an interview State Security Forces commander Brigadier General Ahmadi Moqaddam, admitted that people had been arrested but he claimed that “the intelligence and security systems were forced to act in severe cases, in which those trying to break the law were arrested and introduced to the judicial system.”

On June 15, in some district of Tehran thousands of youth chanted “Ahmadinejad get lost, get lost.” In Shahrak-e Qarb area of Tehran people chanted “Iran, Iran” and “Down with dictator.”

Simultaneous with residents of Tehran, Iranians in cities across the country turned celebrations for victory in football match to protest against the clerical regime ruling in Iran.
