NCRI – Iranian Kurdish political prisoner Mansour Arvand was executed secretly early on Sunday (14 June) in Miandoab Prison, it has been learnt.

The regime’s officials gave no prior notice to Mr. Arvand’s family.

Agents of the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) on Thursday transferred Mr. Arvand from the central prison in Mahabad, western Iran, to Miandoab.

Mr. Arvand was arrested at his home in Mahabad in June 2011 and tortured for some time in various MOIS prisons. On June 12, 2012 he was sentenced to execution on the charge of ‘Moharebeh’ (waging war on God), propaganda against the state and membership in a dissident Kurdish party.

In November 2014 he was informed that the Supreme Court had commuted his execution sentence to life imprisonment.

Mr. Arvand’s relatives, who had been pursuing his case for some time, have confirmed his execution. Prison officials had informed them that they should go to Miandoab Prison and pay the costs incurred for his execution in order to receive his body.
