Iran: Women prisoners beaten for protest over bread shortages

NCRI – Women prisoners have been beaten and locked in solitary confinement for protesting at the total lack of bread in their meagre diet at Iran’s Zahedan Central prison.

The inmates staged a demonstration last Thursday (April 18) over the inhumane treatment and almost a week of starvation rations.

The guards do not let the families of prisoners provide them with bread, according to reports.

Special anti-riot forces reacted by attacking the prisoners, beating them with batons and transferring more than a dozen of them to torture chambers and solitary confinement, it was reported.
