Iran: University Students protests

Following the arrest of a student activist at Noshirvani Babol University in the province of Mazandaran, students at this university have been actively involved in protests condemning the arrest.

The students have also ran a widespread campaign on Facebook supporting the imprisoned student.

Mohsen Barzegar, 25, former president of the student association was arrested on December 22 after attending birthday party for another imprisoned student activist.

Students at Orumiyeh Industrial University are protesting towards a sham and fraud election that took place by the government officials for the university association.

In a meeting held at Shiraz Industrial University with the presence of its dean, the students demanded his resignation and complained about the unsuitable condition of the university cafeteria and low food quality.

On Wednesday, December 25, 303 university, social and civil activists in the province of Fars wrote a letter complaining about the condition at Shiraz University and demanding its management to change.
