Iran: Two political prisoners to be executed

NCRI – Two of four brothers being held in Iran’s Orumieh prison for political reasons are to be executed after the election, regime officials have declared.

Ali Afshari and Habib Afshari have been told their families have only weeks to act to save them before they are executed after the June 6 ballot on the orders of prosecutor Hazrati and judge Javadi.

Ali Afshari, born in 1980, and brother Habib Afshari, born in 1988 were sentenced to death by the revolutionary court of Mahabad on charges of ‘Moharebeh’ (waging war against God), ‘propaganda against the system’ and ‘membership of an opposition party’.

The pair -from the village of Gogjelo Habibla near Mahabad – were notified about the verdict last December in Orumieh prison, and their appeal was later rejected by the Supreme Court.

Their two other brothers have been sentenced to five years imprisonment on a charge of acting against national security. All four are being held in Orumieh prison.
