Iran: Two dozen Sunnis arrested

NCRI – The Iranian regime’s State Security Forces have arrested at least 20 Sunni Iranians on the day of Islamic feast Eid al-Adha or Feast of Sacrifice in western city of Mahabad.

The forces violently raided the houses of these residents of Mahabad. Three of the residents who have been arrested and transferred to undisclosed location are: Salar Saeedi, Shoresh Aaeineh and Mohammad Modaressi.

According to the reports received from Iran, the crackdown on Sunni Muslims in Iran have intensified during the past few week.

The Iranian regime’s security forces prevented Sunni Muslims from holding Eid al-Adha or Feast of Sacrifice prayers in some districts of Tehran on October 4.

According to the reports, the Iranian Sunnis in Sadeghieh and Saadat Abad districts in Tehran were prevented to hold prayer on this very import Islamic feast.

An Iranian Sunni cleric said: “We have repeatedly requested form the Ministry of Interior to cooperate and remove the limitations as this is our right in our country. But unfortunately according to the reports limitations have been imposed on Sunnis in parts of the country.”

Muslims around the world celebrated Eid al-Adha or Feast of Sacrifice on Saturday. On this day God asked Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his only son, Ishmael — as a test of his faith from God.
