NCRI – A University of Tabriz official has said that more than 70 students have been forced to explicitly commit to the regime’s code of conduct on veiling while 10 others have been warned by the disciplinary committee.
In an interview with the state-run Mehr news agency on June 20, Mohammad-Taqi Aalami, The Deputy of Student Affairs at the university, outlined plans to deal with “mal-veiling,” adding, “The first step is guidance. After that, if the trend of wearing inappropriate clothing continues, they will be confronted.”
He also talked about methods for identifying those with inappropriate veiling and issuing warnings, saying, “Upon entering the campus, students will be monitored by security guards for proper clothing. These brothers and sisters can warn those wearing inappropriate clothing at two different points.”
The Tabriz University official added, “Deans and professors are also asked in numerous meetings, especially at the council meetings, to participate in the struggle against mal-veiling.”
The regime’s desperate suppressive measures take place in reaction to student protests seeking democratic change in Iran. As the anniversary of the July 8, 1999 student protests approaches, the regime has also asked all dorm residents at the University of Tehran to evacuate the buildings starting on June 27.
