Iran: Students warned of ‘prison and lashes’ for political activity

NCRI – The Iranian regime’s security agents have been summoning suspected ‘activist’ students for interrogation ahead of the new university year in the regime.

Many are ordered to report to the Assessment Organization, while others are taken to the intelligence ministry for questioning, according to reports.

One student activist said the aim of the interrogations was to intimidate them with warning that their activities would be monitored and controlled.

The summoned students were pressured to give written commitments that they would refrain from political activity. Intelligence ministry agents have been used bribes and threats to force students to cooperate with them or risk being banned from further education.

Payam-e Nour University in Isfahan has also threatened students in its latest suppressive against anyone insulting regime officials.

A notice displayed in the university states that students face three to six months imprisonment, 74 lashes and a 10 million Riyals fine for insulting the regime.
