NCRI – A deputy of Minister y of Culture and Islamic Guidance in Hassan Rouhani’s cabinet warned all news websites that are running without obtaining an authorization from the ministry will be dealt with in coming days.
Seyed Allaoddin Zohorian, the Deputy Minister for Press and Information said on Sunday ” Any press activity without obtaining an authorization from the Committee Overseeing the Press contitutes violation of law and they would be treated like the publications being printed without having an authorization.”
Zohorian heads the committee that oversees the activities of news media in Iran.
Minister y of Culture and Islamic Guidance is responsible for restricting access to any media of which the regime in Tehran does not approve.
For the importation and exportation of motion picture, cinematographic and television films, audio tapes, discs, books and other publications, brochures, pamphlets, commercial advertisement products, business catalogues, pictures, gravures, paintings, tableaux, etc., licenses are required to be obtained from the ministry.
In addition, the ministry is one of the state bodies that are responsible for exporting the Islamic fundamentalism.
Hassan Rouhani’s Ministery of Culture and Islamic Guidance is headed by Ali Jannati.
In the early years after the revolution, Jannati was a member of the ‘Supervisory Council for Radio and Television’, headed by Hassan Rouhani, and which paved the way for mass censorship across the regime.
In 1983, he was head of the state-run Channel 1 TV network and played an active role in sending artists and supporters of free speech into exile.
Jannati is also known to have played a major role in suppressing opposition as Governor of Khuzestan and Khorasan. Then as Governor of Khorasan province he began a wave of killings during the Mashhad uprising in May, 1992.
From 1992 to 1998, he was Deputy of International Affairs in the Ministry of Guidance and played a continuing role in the suppression of Iran’s culture and art.
During Ahmadinejad’s presidency in 2005, Jannati was deputy to interior minister Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi, one of the regime’s most criminal senior officials who was responsible for the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in 1988.
