Iran: More Pressure on Ethnic Political Prisoners

Shir-Ahmad-Shirani

NCRI – The officials of Ardabil prison prevented medical treatment of the political prisoner, Shir Ahmad Shirani, and transferred him to solitary confinement in quarantine section of the prison to put pressure on him. This Baluch political prisoner, who suffers from acute kidney disease and severe gastrointestinal problems, was transferred to solitary confinement on October 16 after he protested his condition and demanded medical treatment.

According to reports, despite the passage of more than 2 weeks, he is still held in solitary confinement and has to endure the inhumane condition of the solitary cells in addition to the unbearable pains of his illness.

He had repeatedly visited the prison infirmary for treatment, but the prison infirmary had told him and the officials of Ardebil prison that they are not able to treat him here and he should be dispatched to and treated in a hospital outside the prison.

The political prisoner, Shir Ahmad Shirani, was arrested in Tehran in 2010 and sentenced to 22 years imprisonment in a court in an unfair trial and without a lawyer. The regime’s Judiciary transferred him to Ardebil prison (northwest Iran) in exile to put more pressure on him while he is a resident of Zahedan (southeast Iran) and his family is not able to visit him due to the long distance and high costs trips.
