Iran – Italy: Tribute by Iranian community in memory of Valiollah Feiz-Mahdavi

ImageNCRI – Deeply outraged at the cruel death in custody of Valiollah Feiz-Mahdavi, a 28-year-old political prisoner from the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, Iranians gathered in Republic Square in Rome to voice their protest. The gathering was held on the initiative of the Association of Young Iranian Democrats in Italy, supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).

The demonstration started with the national anthem: Iran, Land of Pearls. Speaking at the gathering, Esmaïl Mohaddess of the Association of Iranian Experts and Specialists in Italy welcomed participants, and said: We have gathered here to pay tribute to the latest martyr of the People’s Mojahedin of Iran and to make sure that we will continue to follow his path. Freedom, democracy and the people’s sovereignty in Iran are within reach with Maryam Rajavi, the Resistance’s President-elect.

Kazem Mahdavi, representing the families of the People’s Mojahedin in Ashraf City, recounted the life of Valiollah Feiz-Mahdavi, bringing the assembly to tears.

Behzad Bahreh-Bar of the Community of the Iranian Supporters of the NCRI in Italy saluted Valiollah’s resolute stance against the mullahs’ regime. “We ask European political leaders; how much longer do you want to go on with your appeasement policy and your concessions to this medieval regime which is shedding the blood of courageous men such as Valiollah Feiz-Mahdavi, who after five years in jail died in the prime of life because he longed for liberty. Through his determination and resistance, he joined the combatants of Ashraf City, the city of honor, and taught a new lesson to the religious tyranny, that all generations of Iranian people will never bend to the most inhuman tortures or pressures. They are determined to establish freedom and democracy in their country, whatever the price.”

The demonstration ended with chants in the memory of all those who lost their lives for democracy in Iran.
