Iran: IRGC plays a major role in suppressing local residents in ChaharMahal and Bakhtiari

NCRI – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) will play a major role in suppressing local residents in southwestern ChaharMahal and Bakhtiari province, the state-run news agency Fars reported on Monday.

Brig. Gen. Reza Mohammad-Solimani, top IRGC commander in ChaharMahal and Bakhtiari province said, "The Islamic Republic's enemies have changed from a regional to a global one. The IRGC in close cooperation with the State Security Forces (SSF) will shape new squads consisted of 3 or 4 men."

"Parallel to the above plan, the Bassij force [an offspring of IRGC] will play its role by patrolling round the clock to secure the cities," Mohammad-Solimani added.

The driving force of the ayatollahs' nuclear weapons campaign and terrorism export — the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp (IRGC) — is first and foremost tasked with protecting the regime from Iran's democratic opposition. This overriding duty (as stipulated many times by its leadership) is inherent in the true translation of IRGC — "Guardians of the Islamic Revolution." In September, IRGC's top Commander Mohammad Ali Jafari stressed that the Corps' "main responsibility" was to fight against "internal threats."
