Iran: Families of political prisoners are subject to the mullahs’ constant harassments

NCRI- On November 5, in a statement, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) called on all international human rights organizations and in particular the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ms. Louise Arbour, to stop increased harassment of families of  political prisoners by the mullahs’ regime.

In early afternoon of November 3, the agents of notorious Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) broke into and searched the house of a PMOI family member, Ms. Mahin Sarami.

In a similar move, the MOIS agents arrested Ms. Masomeh Mansouri on October 25, 2007, with her brother, when they attempted to collect their father’s personal belongings from the prosecutor’s office. Earlier on September 2, 2007, Mr. Mansouri himself was arrested when his house came under attack by the MOIS agents. He has been serving time in the infamous ward 209 of the Evin Prison.

Ms. Mansouri, herself a student activist in the Polytechnic University of Tehran, has often tried to find out about her father’s well being in the prison and each time she has been turned away by Matin Rasekh a prosecutor at the first district court of the Islamic Revolution.

Mrs. Sarami has a similar fate, since her husband, Mr. Ali Sarami’s arrest in early September. MOIS agents have called her to their office questioning about Mr. Sarami’s activities.
