Iran: Evin Prison physician arrested

NCRI – A doctor of Evin Prison was arrested and transferred to ward 209 of Evin Prison on Monday, November 4 for testifying on tortures imposed on blogger Sattar Beheshti who died in custody in 2012.

Dr. Reza Haidarpour had written a report on the signs of torture and beatings on Sattar Beheshti’s body. There is no information on his whereabouts.

Reports have also emerged that on Wednesday, November 6, a report was published that said, one year after the death of this blogger, his family was informed that the coronary had given reports regarding bleedings in his lungs, kidney, liver and brain.

Prior to this, a doctor at Kahrizak Detention Center, Ramin Pourandarjani, died in a very suspicious way after he had witnessed tortures and events that happened in that detention center after the 2009 election. Later, government officials confessed that he had died of poisoning.

Sattar Beheshti was an Iranian blogger who died in early November 2012 several days after being arrested by the Iranian regime’s Cyber Police unit for criticizing the Iranian regime on his Facebook page.
