NCRI – The Iranian regime’s judiciary chief Sadegh Amoli Larijani has said the regime ‘does not care’ for Western human rights and the international community should be grateful for the execution of drug smugglers.
Larijani was reacting to recent international condemnations of the surge in executions in Iran, telling a meeting of Police Commanders on Saturday: “We do not care what they say.”
He added: “They tell us to stop Qisas (the law of retribution). We do not care for what they want to impose upon us.
“Our laws are in accordance with divine rules and westerners are nothing when it comes to divine rules. They should appreciate us for execution drug smugglers.
“The introduction of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights refers to human dignity. Only the one who has created the human being can talk about this issue. Who are those who wrote the Universal Declaration of Human Rights? Where do they come from? On what bases do they interpret the human dignity?”
And he said of people’s right to vote: “Some consider the people’s vote as the bases for the legitimacy of a system of government, but we believe the people’s vote only legitimatizes its coming to the power, but not its continuation.”
Meanwhile, Hasss Rouhani, the regime’s president, speaking to commanders of the State Security Forces on Saturday, said: “when someone is condemned to death and he comes to the gallows according to the law, then we have no right to insult him as he is being taken to the gallows… in any case, the law has condemned him and he is punished and this has nothing to do with us. It is either the commandment of God or a law approved by the parliament that belongs to the people and we only execute it (Tasnim news agency, affiliated with the Qods Force – April 19).
Remarks by Hassan Rouhani comes at the time that the number of executions since he taken office President has surpassed 700 and according to the report by four UN Special Rapporteurs, the number of prisoners executed in just two and a half months since the beginning of 2014 has reached 176.
The European Parliament adopted a moderately critical resolution on Iran on April 3, causing a hysterical and hostile reaction from the mullah’s regime.
Many Iranian government officials, including the so called ‘moderate’ Foreign Minister, the Speaker of the Majlis (the Iranian Parliament), the chair of the Iranian Parliament’s Security and Intelligence committee, Tehran’s Friday Prayer Leader, numerous members of the Majlis and the overwhelming majority of the media, have mounted relentless attacks on the EU, questioning why the European Parliament dared to include human rights violations and the anti-democratic behaviour of the regime of Iran in the on-going nuclear discussions.
Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in a speech in the Iranian Parliament: “The European Parliament plays a very minor and insignificant role in European politics. The European Parliament is not in a position nor has any moral ground to impose its views on other countries.
“The government shall not allow any European parliamentary delegation to visit Iran with the conditions set in this European parliament resolution.”
