Iran: Dissident Iranian film maker Dariush Shokouf disappeared in GermanyIranian Resistance expresses concern and calls for urgent investigations

According to news reports, Iranian film maker and painter, Dariush Shokouf, who resides in Germany, has disappeared since Monday, May 24, 2010. He was last known to be traveling from Cologne to Paris. The Cologne Police has announced that a search is now underway.

While expressing concern about the disappearance of the dissident Iranian artist, the National Council of Resistance of Iran calls on German authorities to launch urgent investigations.

Dariush Shokouf was known for his open views in opposing the fundamentalist regime ruling Iran. In 2009 and 2010, he made two documentaries called “The Prison of Iran” and “Hitler’s Grave,” exposing torture in the mullahs’ medieval prisons. He was deprived of many opportunities and resources by virtue of his opposition to the dictatorship ruling Iran.

Since Germany has continuously been a scene of activity for the Iranian regime’s intelligence and security organs, the incident has prompted increasing worries for the Iranian opposition.
