Iran: Death row inmates transferred to Bushehr for possible execution

prison-iran150NCRI – A large group of death row inmates have been transferred on Monday to Bushehr central prison from other parts of the southern province of Bushehr.

Transferring prisoners to Bushehr has only one message which is early preparation for their hanging, according to the Resistance sources in Iran.

There are reasons to believe that among the transferred inmates, there are some prisoners who were under 18 at the time of the alleged crimes.

It has been a pattern followed by the mullahs' regime for decades to transfer inmates soon to face gallows to larger facilities. In such displacements there have also been political prisoners sent from one prison to the other facilitating their executions.

In one case, on January 29, the mullahs' odious regime with the intention of putting more pressure on political prisoners transferred a number of them to maximum security prisons holding common criminals.

Twenty-four political prisoners from various penitentiaries throughout the country such as Naqadeh and Orumieh in the northwest and Chalous in the north have been transferred to notorious Gohardasht (Rajahi-Shahr) prison. Gohardasht is a maximum security prison 40 km west of the capital Tehran.

On January 29, twenty-eight prisoners were also relocated from Gohardasht to Evin prison. Five of them were hanged the following day.
