Iran: Chastity patrols arrested dozens of youths in Yazd

ssf-brutality-iran150NCRI – Dozens of boys and girls have been arrested by the State Security Forces (SSF) – mullahs' suppressive police – for their "immodest dress" in the central city of Yazd.

The SSF officials have announced that the recent crackdown is in line with the nationwide plan of "boosting public security." They vowed to deal firmly with those youngsters not abiding by the strict dress cods.

It is believed that arrested youths have been transferred to detention centers where they will be held for 24 hours before their release.

The SSF statement adds that if a youth is caught for the second time wearing something deeded immodest by the police standards, he would be jailed for a period of one month.

The so-called "boosting public security plan" was first introduced in April 2007 to combat popular uprisings. Mass street arrests of hundreds of thousands of women and youth under the pretext of "mal-veiling" and cracking down on "thugs and hooligans" followed. In the same period, more than 300 prisoners were sent to gallows.
