Iran: Another young man soon faces gallows

Hanaing noose NCRI – The mullahs' regime has transferred a 27-year-old man named Habib Qorbani to solitary confinement in preparation for his execution in the central city of Isfahan on November 1.

His death sentence was recently upheld by the mullahs' judiciary chief Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi. Qorbani spent three years imprison prior to his death sentence.

According to his family, Qorbani has been subjected to torture while in prison. He has received severe blows to his head resulting in serious injures. However, Qorbani has been denied all medical attention, his family said.

Qorbani was arrested for his resistance to mullahs' suppressive measures against his neighbors where the family lived, one of his relatives said.

In a report to the UN General Assembly, the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon expressed his concern over the rights of women and minorities in Iran, as well as over the death penalty, including juvenile executions and stoning, in a new report to the General Assembly on the country’s human rights situation on October 21.

The report said there has been a sudden surge of executions in recent months, and the UN Human Rights Committee has sounded the alarm over the “extremely high number of death sentences, many resulting from trials in which the guarantees of due process of law had not been properly applied.”
