Iran: A second teenager faces gallows in less than a week in Shiraz

Mohammad Reza Hadadi, a teenager sentenced to deathNCRI – In a familiar tone another teen, Mohammad Reza Hadadi, has been sentenced to death in the southern city of Shiraz.

The minor according to his attorney was framed by his friends who had committed the crime. He was tricked into confessing to a murder Hadadi had never been involved, said his lawyer.

"His friends had promised him some money to be paid to the teen’s mother outside the prison. However, when the mother told him in a visit to prison that there was not any money, Mohammad Reza changed his plea," added the attorney.

Hadadi is the second minor in a row sentenced to death this week in Shiraz. Behnam Zarei, another minor sentenced to death for an alleged crime committed when he was 15. His sentence is due anytime in Adel Abad prison in Shiraz.

Despite widespread international calls by humanitarian organizations for stay of execution sentence of Behnam Zarei, Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi the mullahs judiciary chief ordered the youngster’s family to try to get the victim’s survivors consent otherwise the execution should be carried out as planned.

According to mullahs’ regime penal code the only remedy to avoid facing capital punishment for murder is to pay blood money to the victims’ survivors. However if the victim’s family does not agree, the execution should go on as scheduled.

What it really means is that Shahroudi has done nothing but to repeat his previous decree according to Mohammad Mostafai, Zarei’s attorney.

Presently, there are juveniles waiting for their execution in most major Iranian prisons run by the mullahs’ judiciary.

Currently there are 75 minors on death row in Iran according to international organizations.
