Iran: A prisoner dies under torture in Isfahan

Picture of the notorious Evin prison in TehranNCRI – A prisoner identified as Mohammad A. was tortured to death by the mullahs' prison guards in the central city of Isfahan. The man had earlier escaped with three other prisoners from the same jail. But he was captured by the Prison's Counter-intelligence Office a few days after his escape.

He died while in custody last night from multiple blows to his head. According to his family the prison guards beat him to death. They named a prison official, Mohammad Ali Banaii with a long record of brutality toward inmates as the key person in Mohammad's sudden death.

Torturing prisoners to death is common, especially that of the political prisoners by the mullahs' prison wardens.

There have a number of famous cases in which the Iranian regime's official murdered the prisoners while in their custody. Beating death of the Canadian-Iranian photojournalist Zahra Kazemi in summer of 2003 and a more recent one in the western city of Hamadan in 2007 of a twenty seven year old physician Zahra Bani-Yaqob are two prime examples of such crimes. Bani-Yaqob was arrested while walking in a park with her fiancé. She was later murdered in a temporary detention center belonging to the paramilitary Bassij force.
