The criminal prosecutor of city of Khoy obstructed medical furlough for Kurdish political prisoner Ms. Zeinab Jalalian.

In recent weeks, a team from the intelligence ministry (MOIS) has referred to Ms. Zeinab several times in Khoy prison to force her into making TV confession as a precondition for her medical aid and dispatching her to the hospital outside prison. However, Ms. Jalanian has refused and has declared that she is not ready to give forced confession.

Ms. Jalalian suffers from pterygium and intestinal disease and may completely lose her eye sight, but prison guards have numerously prevented her dispatch to the hospital.

In March 2008, she was arrested by the MOIS in Kermanshah and underwent interrogation and torture. She was condemned to death by the court, but her sentence was later commuted to life in prison.

This political prisoner that has spent the past eight years in prison has time and again staged hunger strikes because of the pressures imposed on her and for being barred from medical care.
