Foreign journalists arrested in Tehran crackdown

NCRI – The Iranian regime has arrested one Canadian, one Japanese and one Danish journalist for “unauthorized reporting” on November 4 demonstrations.

The Danish journalism student was arrested in Iran after covering anti-regime protests, unions say. The Danish Union of Journalists named the student as Niels Krogsgaard, 31. He was freelancing in Iran for a project related to a journalism course, when he was arrested.

The state-run Fars news agency said today that the Canadian and Japanese reporters were arrested after a Danish journalism student was held two days ago.

Farhad Pouladi, a reporter working for Agence France-Presse was also detained in Tehran on Wednesday.  Two uniformed State Seurity Forces and one in plain clothes agent of Iranian regime took Pouladi into custody after stopping the motorcycle on which he was a passenger, AFP reported.

Jay Deshmukh, the acting AFP bureau chief, said the reporter’s whereabouts were not known.
