A protestor killed by Iran egime's agentsNCRI – The Group of the European People's Party (EPP) at the European Parliament in a statement on Thursday expressed its deep concern about the political situation in Iran. As the largest political group in the parliament, the EPP questioned the conditions of the recent elections under the clerical rule and called for a probe into “the allegations of fraud.”

“We condemn acts of violence by the Iranian security forces and arrests that took place during the demonstrations that followed the presentation of election results, and we call for the immediate release of detained persons,” the statement said.

The EPP group stressed that the manner the regime in Tehran is responding to current events, and also to the legitimate concerns of the international community regarding Iran's nuclear program, will have implications for Iran's future relations with the European Union.

Iran has been the scene of a nationwide uprising in the past seven days following the mullahs’ sham election on June 12. At least 43 people have been killed and hundreds more wounded and arrested in attacks on peaceful demonstrators by suppressive forces.
