Canadian government condemned Iranian regime’s rejection of UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Iran

NCRI – John Baird, The Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the decision by Tehran regime’s officials is one of this regime’s diplomatic steps that insults diplomatic standards and is aimed at weakening UN’s actions for improving and protecting human rights.

The Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that the Iranian regime is ridiculing the commitment that it must have for the UN and its values.

Baird also said:  On the one hand, the Iranian regime is seeking a higher status at the UN, and on the other hand it is refusing to accept the most basic requirements of membership in the UN such as permitting the observers and international independent human rights rapporteurs to have access to their country.

The Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister stressed that: Once again, Canada calls on Iran to have unconditional respect for its international commitments, both from legal and practical perspectives.
