Appalling forced confession of a woman condemned to stoning violates human dignity

The appalling show of forced confession of a woman condemned to stoning tramples upon all social values and human dignity

NCRI – The mullahs' inhuman regime, faced with widespread protests over the death and stoning sentence of Ms. Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, on Wednesday August 11, in an unprecedented move, forced this prisoner after two days of torture to participate in a disgusting televised show and to confess against her lawyer and herself.

Forcing political prisoners to participate in televised shows has been a known and shameful method over three decades of the mullahs' rule. But using this method for accusations of immorality and against a defenceless mother of two young children, in front of the eyes of millions of viewers, is an unprecedented brutality, trampling upon all social values and human dignity and a violation of many international treaties. This is while the main leads of prostitution rings and trafficking oppressed Iranian women and young girls are with the highest officials of the mullahs' regime and immorality disgrace of the regime's heads is known for everyone.

Ms. Sarvnaz Chitsaz, Chair of the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, described resorting of the mullahs' regime to execution, stoning, torture, massacre and these types of disgraceful shows especially against women as abject measures to create an atmosphere of intimidation and fear in order to prevent the spread of social upheavals.

She called on the United Nations Security Council, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and human rights and women's rights organizations to condemn the wicked act of the inhuman mullahs' regime for getting of forced confessions and to refer the dossier of flagrant human rights violations of the religious fascism ruling Iran to the UN Security Council.
