NCRI – Former Iranian political prisoner Mostafa Naderi has recounted his long years in prison in Iran, including more than five years in solitary confinement, in an interview with NCR-Iran.org.

Mr. Naderi is one of the few survivors of the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in Iran. The vast majority were executed for their affiliation with the main Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, or Mujahedin-e Khalq, MEK).

Mr. Naderi was arrested in 1981 at the age of 17 on the charge of supporting the PMOI (MEK) and selling its publication. He spent 11 years in the prisons of the Iranian regime – five-and-a-half in solitary confinement.

Mr. Naderi was brutally tortured during his years in prison. At one point he underwent a mock execution.

One of the key members of the “death commission” that sent prisoners to the gallows in 1988 was Mustafa Pour-Mohammadi, who is currently the Minister of Justice in Hassan Rouhani’s cabinet.

The mullahs’ regime has hanged some 2,000 prisoners since Rouhani took office two years ago.
