NCRI - After months of uncertainty, the prison sentences of three political prisoners incarcerated in Gohardasht prison in Karaj – west of capital Tehran, were finally declared to their lawyers.

According to reports, the political prisoners Mohammad Amirkhizi and Payam Shakiba were each sentenced to 11 years imprisonment on three alleged charges. Mohammad Amirkhizi was also sentenced to two years compulsory residence in exile in Nik Shahr of Sistan and Baluchistan province. Based on another report, Majid Assadi, a student activist and political prisoner, was sentenced to six years imprisonment. He was also sentenced to two years of exile and compulsory residence in the town of Borazjan in Bushehr.

According to the report, the process of their trial was very unfair, such that the representative of the Ministry of Intelligence sat down beside the judge as if he were dictating and issuing the sentence.

It should be noted that Mohammad Amirkhizi; Majid Assadi and Payam Shakiba were arrested in March 2016, and they were imprisoned in limbo and their fate undecided until now. Over the course of several months, Ward 12 where these prisoners were incarcerated along with a number of other political prisoners was raided and attacked by the prison security guards and all their equipment and belongings were destroyed or looted. All of them were also transferred to the high security Ward 10, which is monitored 24 hours by several surveillance cameras. The prison warden has also deprived them of all communication facilities.

These political prisoners are in a state of communication siege and sanctions on minimal facilities. They have been deprived of access to radio, television and newspapers, and their seized property is only available to them if they ask to be transferred to the ordinary and dangerous prisoners section.
