Truck drivers leave jobs due to high fuel costs

NCRI – A large number of truck drivers in the food industry have stopped working in protest to rising fuel costs after the lifting of subsidies by the regime last month.

According to obtained reports, foodstuffs stored in the containers are beginning to rot as a result of the strike.

Fuel costs for these trucks have reportedly jumped up to five times compared to prices before the subsidy cut.

Other reports indicate that more and more companies and factories are declaring bankruptcies as a result of the subsidy lift. Several textile factories in Tehran are among those which have been shut down.

Factories like Nochehreh, Golchehreh, and Vasli have gone bankrupt, according to these reports.

Another factor contributing to the wave of closures is cheap and unbridled imports of Chinese products.
