According to the state-run Fars news agency, the son of Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Mohsen, has said, “Since we are on the brink of the implementation of targeted subsidies, certainly with an increase in energy prices, a large amount of pressure will be placed on the metro.”
He warned, “The main source of pressure will be increasing fuel prices for public transportation and especially the metro, because the bus fleet in the country does not have the capability to meet the demands of clients in the new circumstances.”
“If in such circumstances, the metro does not have the ability to meet the people’s demands, there will be social unrest and riots.”
