Oil rich Iranian province is suffering from poverty and deprivation

The southern Iranian province of Khuzestan which holds majority of Iranian oil reserves and natural gas is one of the poor areas in the country, a member of the Iranian regime parliament has acknowledged.

A member of parliament said: “The Khuzestan province has 85 percent of the Iranian oil and 60 percent of its natural gas, but unfortunately due to mismanagement and inadequate use of resources, this province is now considered one of the poor areas of the country.”

In remarks reported by state-run YJC.ir website on July 29, he added: “The Khuzestan province suffers from lack of health care, roads, housing, air pollution, infrastructure, as well as semi-finished and unfinished projects, water and sanitation problems, unemploymeninadt and other problem.
